What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of deep relaxation known as trance.  Most of us go in and out of trance naturally on a day to day basis.  For example, have you ever driven home, arrived home and thought, “gosh I don’t remember driving here”?  Have you ever walked through a shopping mall only to be tapped on the arm by someone, who you then remembered was just calling your name, yet you didn’t hear them as you were deep in thought or you may say, you didn’t hear them as you were away with the fairies. Have you ever had a day dream?  All of these are examples of being in a trance.

What is Clinical Hypnotherapy?

In hypnosis your conscious mind deeply relaxes and takes the bench (so to speak) which then allows your unconscious mind, otherwise known as your subconscious mind to do its wonderful work,  effecting change in a wonderful positive way.

Research states that our unconscious/subconscious mind is responsible for making 90% of our decisions, with our behaviour reflecting these decisions.  Most of our behaviours we learn at a very young age, however as we grow and become adults some behaviours no longer serve us yet we struggle to correct them.  When the  conscious and subconscious mind cannot agree inner conflict arises.  This is where clinical hypnotherapy works in helping you resolve any limiting behaviours you may have by choosing a new positive behaviour that now serves you better, bringing the subconscious mind in harmony with the conscious mind.

There are many tools used during clinical hypnotherapy that help facilitate change, these are self hypnosis, hypnosis/deep relaxation, visualisation, imagery, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), age regression and past-life regression just to name a few.

You are in control throughout the entire session as your subconscious mind is there to protect you.  The clinical hypnotherapist is purely the facilitator of change, who assists in the process of creating change that you choose.

Hypnotherapy is safe, effective and ever so deeply relaxing.
